T hroughout the county, students are bursting with happiness on the official last day of school.

As the days wound down, the excitement grew for area students. On Wednesday, sixth and seventh graders at Andalusia Middle School gathered for their awards day – and to discuss the particulars of their summer break.

Friends Cynthia Horton, Alexandria Crittenden, Kiana Jackson and Osha Dorsey said their bags are packed and they’re ready to hit the road. Des-tinations ranged from Orlando, Fla., and Miami to Miss-issippi.

“I can’t wait to go,” Crittenden said. “I’m going to visit my cousin in Mississippi.”

Aliqua Goldsmith said she plans to hit the mall in Atlanta, while Maryanne Warthen announced a not-so-common summer destination spot – the hospital.

“I’m having my tonsils taken out,” she said. “But then, I get to go to a Biscuits game in Montgomery.”

Tyra Price said she and her family are going on a Disney Cruise, while their male classmates Tyree Johnson and Cody Williamson said they weren’t only headed to the beach.

“I’m going to Tuscaloosa for football camp,” Johnson said. “It’s not my first time to T-town, but it will be my first time at camp. I play tackle. I know it’s going to be great.”

Williamson said his summer plans involve his uncle and a helicopter.

“He’s a pilot and he’s taking me and my cousins flying,” he said. “It’s going to be great.”
