Lady Tigers edge Ashford in 8 innings

Straughn’s Katelyn Kinsaul drove in the winning run on a single to help lift the Lady Tigers to a 7-6 victory over Ashford in extra innings tonight at AHS.
In the top of the eighth inning, Hayden Willis reached on a single, and got to second base on a sac-bunt by Jacie Williamson.
Kristen Peavy hit a single to put runners at first and third. Peavy later stole second with two outs.
Then, Kinsaul hit her RBI single to score Willis, and the Lady Tigers held out in the bottom of the eighth for the win.
Straughn scored three runs each in the third and sixth innings, and led 6-3 going into the bottom of the seventh inning. Ashford tied the game in the seventh to send it into extra innings.
In the third inning, Williamson scored on an error, and Paige Taylor hit a two-run double for SHS.
Taylor scored on Rachel Edson’s bunt in the sixth; Edson scored on a single from Payton Mitchell; and Morgan Waite hit a double to score Mitchell to help SHS take the 6-3 lead at that point in the game.
Taylor went 2-for-3 to lead SHS.
