Pleasant Home got a key double-play with bases loaded in the fourth inning as the Lady Eagles beat Brantley 11-1 in area softball action on Tuesday night.
“I was real concerned because Brantley’s a good team,” PHS coach Bradley Stephens said. “They’re the toughest team in our area. I was real concerned about the game for sure.”
Pleasant Home jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first inning, and the Lady Bulldogs made a game of it off of a few Lady Eagles errors.
“Then, the momentum changed for us,” Stephens said about the fourth inning. “We had one out. A ground ball was hit to Ashley (Copeland) at third (base) and Jordan McGhee caught the ball at home (for the tag out) and then threw the runner out at first to end the inning.”
The Lady Eagles improve to 14-4 overall, and 3-0 in Class 1A, Area 3.
Pleasant Home is back in action today at Flomaton.
