Two Covington County residents are heading to Mobile Saturday to compete in the Alabama Talent Hunt, a statewide individual vocal talent competition.

Christian Wossilek of Andalusia and Preston Hoffman of Red Level are two of 126 singers who passed the preliminary round and advanced to the regional semi-finals.

This is the second of five rounds where contestants will compete in one of five age categories including elementary, middle school, high school, young adult and adult. Contestants may enter in up to six music genres including classic hits, contemporary Christian, country, jazz, R&B and top 40 hits.

Wossilek attends Andalusia Middle School, and Hoffman attends Georgiana School.

Both boys will sing in front of a live audience at the Laidlaw Recital Hall on the campus of the University of South Alabama.

Both boys will compete in the middle school category but will sing in different genres. Hoffman is singing in the “classic hits” genre, performing the song “Every Rose Has Its Thorn” and accompanying himself on the guitar.

Wossilek is singing in the top 40 category, performing the song “Forget You” and also accompanying himself on the guitar.

Both boys hope to advance to the regional finals. Tickets for the night’s performance are available through the web site alabamatalenthunt.com

Winners of the state final round from each age group and genre may receive cash prizes, paid studio recording sessions and a two-year agency contract through the Alabama Talent Co..
