An Opp man is dead following a pursuit with Alabama State Troopers early Monday morning.

The accident occurred at 1:35 a.m. nearly three miles northeast of Kinston involving 40-year-old Michael Brandon Nobles.

Trooper Greg Eubanks, AST public information officer, said Nobles was killed when ejected from his Dodge pickup, which left the road way, overturned and caught fire.

Nobles was not wearing a seatbelt and was pronounced dead at the scene, Eubanks said.

“Prior to the crash, (Nobles) refused to stop for a trooper who attempted to stop the vehicle for a traffic violation,” he said.

He said no other information was available as troopers are still investigating the accident.
