The AHSAA has released the realignments for football and basketball for 2012-14 seasons. Opp stays in Class 3A, but moved to another region. Straughn drops to Class 3A, and is now in the same region as the Bobcats in Region 1. Red Level has dropped from a 2A school to a 1A school, and will compete in Region 2 with local teams Pleasant Home and Florala. Andalusia did not change classification or region in football, but picked up Charles Henderson a previously 5A school, and Beauregard. Additionally, Red Level is now a Class 1A, Area 3 team in basketball; and Opp and Straughn are Class 3A, Area 2 teams. A full story will be in Thursday’s edition of the newspaper.
