Opp Fest set for Saturday

Calling all music lovers, car aficionados and arts and crafts enthusiasts – Opp Fest will hit the streets of downtown this Saturday.

Organizer John Bartholomew said this year’s street festival is going to be the biggest and best ever, and will include arts and crafts, food and live entertainment.

There are vendors ranging from food to novelties to games.

Vendor organizer Ernie DePrinzio said so far, there are 70 spots taken and he still has about 20 spots left.

Anyone interested in having a booth should contact Ernie DePrinzio at 493-1000 or 398-1481.

“We’ll also have a large car show,” he said. “I think we’ll surpass last year’s 100 cars.”

Brett Ballard, chair of the car show, said there’ll be a burnout in which the winners will take home prize money, including $500 for first place; $200 for second place; and $100 for third place.

Bartholomew said there will also be plenty of activities for the little ones, including pony rides, a pettimg zoo and various other rides.

Live entertainment includes the Opp High School band, a Mariachi band and more.

The schedule be:

• 9 a.m. until 9:30 a.m. – Opp High School band;

• 9:30 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. – LA Country;

• 10:30 a.m. until 11 a.m. – Mariachi band;

• 11 a.m. until noon – Shawn Stuckey band;

• 12 p.m. until 12:15 p.m. – National Anthem, invocation and introduction of guests;

• 12:30 p.m. until 1:15 p.m. – Turman Bluegrass;

• 1:15 p.m. until 1:45 p.m. – Lamar Morris;

• 1:45 p.m. until 2:15 p.m. – Titanic Magic, magician;

• 2:15 p.m. until 3 p.m. – Burning Bush family;

• 3 p.m. until – Car show awards.
