Andalusia’s PeeWee football team’s defense came through for the Bulldogs again Saturday night.
The Bulldogs beat Georgiana 14-0 in regular season action at the Andalusia High School football stadium, where only one offensive touchdown was scored.
From the start, Andalusia’s defense held the Panthers on a 4th-and-6 play.
The Bulldogs took over on the 24-yard line, and put together a 76-yard, 13-play drive that took 6:22 off the clock.
Andalusia’s Jamal Hourel scored on a 5-yard rush, and Undre Johnson capped off the drive with the extra point to give the Bulldogs a 7-0 lead, which they held late into the third quarter.
Andalusia’s defense took over from there, causing two fumbles, three sacks and two interceptions in the shut out.
Hourel score his second touchdown of the night for Andalusia late in the third quarter, when he intercepted a pass and took it back 28 yards for the score. Kyson Ward got the extra point for the Bulldogs.
The Panthers threatened late on the Bulldogs’ 21-yard line in the fourth quarter when Georgiana attempted a 15-yard pass; however, it was intercepted by Hourel to seal the victory for Andalusia.
Will Clark paced Andalusia with six tackles and three sacks; Lindsey Williams had six tackles, and Hourel had three tackles and two interceptions.
“This by far was the biggest and strongest team we have faced,” Bulldogs head coach Casey Jones said. “Our young men rose to the challenge.”
Andalusia improves to 5-0 after the victory, and will have an open week this week. The Bulldogs will be back in action next Saturday, Oct. 8, at 7 p.m., where they will play host to Straughn.
