With the approaching Labor Day holiday and exceptionally dry weather throughout the state, the Alabama Forestry Commission is advising residents to use extreme caution when burning.
Over the past seven days there have been 100 wildfires, burning more than 1,778 acres across the state.
There are no burn restrictions at this time; however, state law prohibits burning of any woodland, grassland, field or wood debris more than one quarter acre or within 25 feet of flammable material without a burn permit.
Call 1-800-242-2504 for a burn permit.
