It takes lots of pots to get gumbo going for 300 people, and that’s what Terry Kyzar is busy doing this week as St. Mary’s Episcopal Church prepares for its annual Bayou Feast, set for this Fri., Aug. 26, from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. The menu also includes blackened fish, jambalaya, shrimp and grits, cole slaw, boiled shrimp and bread pudding. Tickets are $22, and as of mid-afternoon Wednesday, there were only 50 still available. A portion of each sale goes to aid tornado victims in North Alabama, while the remainder is for the church’s building fund. For tickets, call the church office at 222-2487. Michele Gerlach/Star-News
