Not only will the Florala Lady Wildcats’ volleyball program have its varsity squad back again for a second year, but a junior varsity squad has also been added to the mix, head coach Joea McNeil said.
“I’m excited about that, too,” McNeil said.
The Lady Wildcats will play in their first match this season on Thursday at 4:30 p.m. as they play host to New Brockton.
The varsity squad has five players returning from last year’s team. Everyone on the junior varsity team is new, McNeil said.
“We have a large JV team, and we’re just giving them the opportunity to play and see if that’s what they want to do,” she said.
The seniors on the varsity team are Angela Radford and Vanessa Miller. This will be Miller’s first time to play on the varsity squad for Florala.
Florala will compete in Class 1A, Area 2 with Kinston and rival Pleasant Home this season.
As far as goals are concerned, McNeil said the team was going to sit down and talk about them Monday afternoon.
“Right now, we just want to get out there and play the best we can and win some matches,” she said.
