The nine schools in the Covington County School System will soon have more money to spend on classroom supplies thanks to a state Community Service Grant announced Monday by Sen. Jimmy Holley, R-Elba, and Rep. Mike Jones, R-Andalusia.
The lawmakers said the schools should receive a total of $14,400 in grant funds before students return to the classroom next fall.
Covington County Schools Superintendent Terry Holley said the grant funds will help ensure schools have sufficient classroom resources during a time when education dollars are limited.
“Our teachers and students are extremely grateful to Sen. Holley and Rep. Jones for their commitment to securing these funds for our schools,” Holley said.
