Tom Goodspeed would like to clarify one thing: Barrow’s Furniture isn’t closing.
Goodspeed said his phone was ringing off the hook Wednesday morning as people read or heard about a multi-layered real estate deal approved by the Andalusia City Council Tuesday night.
The deal, in which Barrow’s will pay the city $350,000 in cash for the city’s interest in the property on which the company now operate, allows Barrow’s to in turn sell a portion of the property to a new retailer.
“What we’re selling is currently unused warehouses,” Goodspeed said.
Tuesday, Mayor Earl Johnson said the new business is expected to employ 30 to 35 people, and that construction should begin this summer.
