The spring football season will come to an end for Pleasant Home and Florala this Friday night, where both will participate in a three-team spring game at FHS.
The spring football game will be played in three 24-minute halves, starting at 6 p.m. between Florala and New Brockton.
Pleasant Home and New Brockton will play in the second half, and the final half will be between Pleasant Home and Florala.
“We’ve been in the weight room since football season ended (last fall), and had a good showing at the weight meet,” PHS head football coach Robert Bradford said. “Right after that, we started working on spring football.”
Bradford compared Friday night’s contests to a final exam.
“One thing that has been consistent is that our intenstiy level has been good through the spring,” Bradford said. “Every starting position on offense and defense is open to anybody.
“There’s been a lot of good, healthy competition,” he said.
During Pleasant Home’s spring football season, the Eagles have participated in lifting weights, on-the-field drills and running, Bradford said.
Additionally, PHS is in search for a new quarterback and running back, which has been one of the main focal points.
“It’s kind of been an adventure this spring,” Bradford said. “We lost our starting quarterback and tail back.
“We’ve got three days until we play, and we still haven’t named a starting quarterback. That’s been one of the biggest stories,” he said. “We’ve got three kids for those positions, and we’re expecting to see all three of those kids get some playing time in the spring game.”
