Saints split in conference games

The Saints split their last two ACCC Southern Conference doubleheaders last week on the road against the Alabama Southern Eagles and the Bishop State Wildcats.
LBWCC won the first game against the Eagles 7-6 and lost the second game 8-4. At Bishop State, the Saints lost the first game 8-5, and won the final game 2-0.
LBWCC 7, Alabama Southern 6
Alabama Southern scored four runs in the first game against the Saints to take an early 4-0 lead.
Trailing 5-1, the Saints scored five runs in the seventh inning to take the first lead of the game.
Gavin Free hit a bases-loaded triple in the seventh, and the Saints scored one run in the ninth inning to break the 6-6 tie.
Todd Dykes earned the win for the Saints on the mound.
Free was 2-for-3 with one run and three RBIs; and Aaron Haag was 2-for-5 with three RBIs.
Alabama Southern 8, LBWCC 4
The Eagles scored one run in the first inning and two runs in the second inning to take a 3-0 lead until the fourth inning.
The Saints answered and took the lead, plating three runs in the fourth, and an additional run in the fifth inning.
Alabama Southern scored five runs in the bottom of the fifth to seal the victory.
Alex Banks was 2-for-3 with two RBIs; and Andrew Crane was 2-for-4 with two RBIs for the Saints.
Bishop State 8, LBWCC 5
The Saints scored two runs in the second inning, one run each in the fourth, fifth and sixth innings in the loss.
LBWCC lead 5-3 in the bottom of the eighth, but the Wildcats bounced back and scored five runs to seal game one.
Zach Sasser was 1-for-3 with one RBI; and Banks was 1-for-3 with one RBI.
LBWCC 2, Bishop State 0
LBWCC’s P.J. Leto and Crane accounted for the Saints only runs in the second game of the doubleheader against the Wildcats.
Leto was 1-for-3 with one RBI; Crane was 2-for-3 with one RBI; and David Carter was 1-for-3 with one run for the Saints.
Dykes earned the win on the mound.
The Saints will play host to Jeff Davis tomorrow, Wed., April 13 at 2 p.m. in conference play at Crum Foshee Field in Andalusia.
