County receives ‘Click it’ grant

Ten southeast Alabama counties, including Covington and Coffee, will receive funds to assist with the operation of “Click It or Ticket” within their jurisdictions.
Rep. Mike Jones Jr. (R-Andalusia) and Sen. Jimmy Holley (R-Elba) announced the $34,210 grant Friday. Enterprise State Community College will administer the grant to local agencies from Alabama Department of Economic and Community Affairs, Law Enforcement/Traffic Safety Division.
This grant provides funds for law enforcement agencies to conduct checkpoints, line, and/or saturation patrols within their jurisdictions with special emphasis on educating the public on the importance of wearing seatbelts and child restraints.
The grant period is today through June 20, 2011.
