PHS girls beat Florala

Pleasant Home beat Florala 10-0 in varsity girls softball action Thursday night at FHS.
The Lady Eagles took their 10-run lead in the fourth inning, and the game was called due to the mercy rule an inning later.
Pleasant Home will be playing Kinston at 5:45 p.m. tonight at the City of Andalusia’s Department of Leisure Services annual fast pitch softball tournament to start in pool play.
“Now, we’re just getting prepared for Kinston (today),” PHS softball coach Bradley Stephens said. “It’s going to be a tough one.”
Pleasant Home’s Kaitlin Brookshire was 2-for-4 with five stolen bases; Emily Byrd was 2-for-2 with one triple and two stolen bases; Ashley Copeland was 2-for-3 with tree stolen bases, two of which came at crucial times, Stephens said; Abigail Kelley was 2-for-3 with three stolen bases; and Raven Woods was 1-for-3 with three stolen bases.
Brentin Fuller had 11 strikeouts, and no earned run to get the win on the mound for the Lady Eagles. She was two hits and one walk shy of getting a perfect game.
In other varsity softball action Thursday night, Andalusia’s contest in Ashford went into nine innings, where the Lady Yellow Jackets came away with a 1-0 area win over the Lady Bulldogs.
Opp’s Lady Bobcats beat Red Level 11-1.
Every batter in Opp’s line up had one hit each.
Anna Harrelson pitched 3.0 innings, gave up one run on no hits and struck out four.
Courtney Chatham pitched two innings and gave up no runs on no hits.
In junior varsity action, the Lady Bobcats won 15-0.
