Andalusia’s Department of Leisure Services will hold its 12th annual fast pitch softball tournament this Friday and Saturday at the Andalusia Sports Complex.

Ten teams make up the annual tournament, and the format will be in pool play.

Pool play is a tournament format that allows teams a maximum amount of games in one exhibition.

AHS softball coach Marcus Taylor said the tournament guarantees each team an “opportunity” to play five games.

“It allows you to get some experience in a way you wouldn’t normally have,” Taylor said. “That’s going to be a good thing (for all teams).”

Andalusia, Opp, Jackson, Greenville and Geneva will be in Pool A; with Ariton, Straughn, Excel, Pleasant Home and Kinston in Pool B.

On Saturday after the 12:45 game at the complex, the tournament will transition to a championship style bracket.

The winner of Pool A and B will play at 5:30 p.m., while the lower seeded teams from each pool will begin earlier in the day. The first games after the end of pool play will begin at 2:30 p.m. The championship game is slated to begin at 8:30 p.m. on Field No. 3 at the complex.

The following is the pool play schedule for the tournament for Andalusia, Straughn, Pleasant Home and Opp.

Pool A, Friday

• Andalusia vs. Jackson, Field No. 1 — 4:30 p.m.

• Opp vs. Geneva, Field No. 2 — 5:45 p.m.

• Andalusia vs. Opp, Field No. 3 — 7 p.m.

Pool B, Friday

• Pleasant Home vs. Kinston, Field No. 1 — 5:45 p.m.

• Straughn vs. Ariton, Field No. 3 — 5:45 p.m.

• Pleasant Home vs. Excel, Field No. 2 — 7 p.m.

• Straughn vs. Kinston, Field No. 2 — 8:30 p.m.

Pool A, Saturday

• Opp vs. Greenville, Field No. 1 — 9 a.m.

• Andalusia vs. Geneva, Field No. 3 — 9 a.m.

• Opp vs. Jackson, Field No. 1 — 11:30 a.m.
