Straughn, Pleasant Home girls win

Straughn beat Luverne 8-0 in its home opener tonight.
The Lady Tigers scored five runs in the bottom of the sixth inning in the first complete game of the season.
Straughn’s Kaitlynn Wiggins led the Lady Tigers behind the plate, going 3-for-4 with three runs, including an inside-the-park home run in the bottom of the fifth.
Wiggins also was dominant from the mound with five strike outs and allowing no hits in two innings.
Paige Caraway started the game, and pitched 3.0 innings, striking out nine batters.
Katy Messick pitched two innings, striking out three.
In other girls action, Pleasant Home beat McKenzie 14-0 in area action.
