The Andalusia Junior Woman’s Club (AJWC) held their 2nd annual “Sacking for Schools” fund raiser on November 19th and 20th of 2010. stores. The AJWC, along with many gracious volunteers, collected more than $2000. The earnings from this project are disbursed to the schools in the community.
Volunteer celebrity baggers included Mrs. Hazel Griffin and Mr. Kennith Mount of the Andalusia City Council, Mr. Ted Watson, superintendent of Andalusia City Schools, and several members of the Andalusia Middle School SGA and Ambassadors. This event would not have been a success without their help.
Winn Dixie and Piggly Wiggly were most accommodating to the fund raising efforts of the club. The AJWC is also extremely thankful to the customers that opened their wallets and shared in spite of these harsh economic times.
The AJWC holds three fund raising projects annually to enable the club to provide support to our community. These include the Red Garter Revue, Three Notch Market, and Sacking for Schools. Currently, the club is busy preparing for the Red Garter Revue which will be held March 11-12, 2011. The Three Notch Market is slated for May 7, 2011.
The AJWC was formed in 1962 and has remained an active part of Andalusia and Covington County. Today the club has 40 members who share the visions of the founders of the AJWC. We would like to thank the businesses and individuals who have supported us throughout the years and have enabled us to give back to our wonderful community.
