Red Level ended its season Friday night in the Class 2A, Area 2 tournament, falling to tournament host Elba, 63-53.
Elba led 13-8 after the first period, 30-18 at half time and 40-36 after the third period.
RLS coach Allen Catrett said the biggest difference in the ball game was free throws.
Elba was 21-of-38 from the line, and Red Level was 7-of-8.
“We dug ourselves a hole to start with, and then we picked up the intensity a lot in the second half,” Catrett said.
Red Level cut Elba’s lead to four points with one minute remaining in the fourth period.
Elba then made its last six points at the free-throw line to clinch a berth in the Class 2A sub-regionals.
Preston Ryce led Red Level with 20 points, and Nick Dorsey had 14 points. Raheem Bullock had eight points, and Troy Nolen had five points.
K.J. Lawrence, James Feagin and Tevin James had two points each.
“We played hard — we just let them get the lead in the first of it,” Catrett said.
Red Level ended its season 17-14.
