Three Opp varsity girls basketball players scored in double figures Thursday night to help lead the Lady Bobcats to a 66-22 win over Luverne in the Class 3A, Area 2 semifinals at Geneva High School.
Soyia Folmar led Opp with 16 points. Laiken Free had 14 points, and Nisha Stoudemire had 11 points.
OHS girls coach Allison Gregory said she was pleased with how the defense looked Thursday night.
“We threw a lot of different looks at them,” Gregory said. “Things we were working on for our future opponents.
“I think we did a good job of executing those,” she said.
Opp improves to 21-5 overall, and earned a berth in the Class 3A sub-regional round, a feat it hasn’t accomplished in a few years while in Class 4A. The Lady Bobcats will face Geneva in the tournament finals Saturday night at 7 p.m.
“In the last few years, we had a pretty tough area,” Gregory said. “We’re at a point in our season where we are learning how to win, and that’s where we want to be. Everybody got in the ball game, and everybody got to play.”
Freshman Malikiyah Lane had six points for the Lady Bobcats off the bench.
