Red Level will dedicate its gym to a man who needs no introduction — Jimmy Prestwood.
Prestwood led the boys and girls to numerous appearances at the state tournament during his 16 years at the helm of the basketball program. Through his career, the boys and girls compiled a 314-170 record.
Many in the RLS community approached RLS principal Johnny Odom about the possibility of the dedication.
“Several people approached me about the idea the past couple of years,” Odom said. “They kept on doing it, so I just talked to different alumni and the quarterback club, and everybody thought it was a fantastic idea.”
The dedication ceremony will begin at 5:30 p.m., at the conclusion of the B-team game against McKenzie. All alumni of RLS will be admitted free to the game for the ceremony.
“We should have just a fantastic turn out for all the people over the years,” Odom said. “Years ago, there were football coaches, whose second job was basketball.
“When Mr. Prestwood came, he was the first person that put basketball as his top priority.”
