Flomaton throttles Red Level, 52-20

Red Level’s girls basketball team only scored eight points in the first half against Flomaton on Wednesday at the Straughn Lady Tigers Thanksgiving Tournament in a 52-20 loss to the Lady Canes.
Flomaton’s Tara Gafford led in scoring with 16 points, and Red Level’s Shelby Holley had 10.
The Lady Tigers fell to an early 4-0 deficit in the first period, and Flomaton increased its lead 11-0 midway through.
Red Level scored its first two points of the game with 2:21 left in the first period on a lay up by Holley.
The Lady Canes added six more points compared to the Lady Tigers’ two to take a 17-4 lead after the first period.
Flomaton outscored Red Level 13-4 in the second period and led 30-8 at the break.
Costly turnovers plagued Red Level’s offense on Wednesday, and Flomaton took advantage, outscoring Red Level 12-2 leading into the final period.
Red Level finished in sixth place at the tournament, and head coach Delores Douglas declined to comment after the game.
RLS will play host to the Opp Lady Bobcats on Thurs., Dec. 2 at 4:30 p.m.
