Andalusia senior running back Derrick King was selected as a notable player of the week by the Alabama Sports Writer’s Association.

King rushed for 189 yards on 29 carries and scored all three of his team’s touchdowns to help lead the Bulldogs to a 21-20 win over previously undefeated Ashford last week.

The win clinched the Class 4A, Region 2 title for Andalusia.

The Bulldogs will face Headland this week in their last region contest of the regular season.

In addition, with the title win, Andalusia will host the first round of the playoffs, which starts Fri., Nov. 5.
