MONTGOMERY (AP) — Authorities are investigating after a Montgomery schoolteacher was shot outside T.S. Morris Elementary School.

Montgomery Police Department spokesman Lt. Mark Drinkard says the 41-year-old teacher was leaving school around 3:15 p.m. when she fought with a man. Drinkard says she tried to run away and he shot her multiple times.

The teacher’s condition was not immediately available Tuesday night.

Authorities say the suspect and a witness left the scene. Authorities did not identify the victim or suspect.

There was no word on whether any children were near the shooting.
