Alabama sophomore linebacker Nico Johnson was selected as a defensive player of the week by the Crimson Tide coaching staff, the Capston Report reports.

In an official press release from UA athletics, Johnson followed defensive leader Dont’a Hightower in stats, and was credited with six tackles (four solo) and 0.5 tackles for a loss against the Duke Blue Devils on Saturday.

Hightower led the defense with eight tackles (five solo) and is the first on the team through three games with 16 stops this season.

Alabama beat Duke, 62-13.
