Red Level defeats New Brockton, 20-12

Red Level defeated New Brockton 20-12 Friday night to claim its first region and regular season win.
The Tigers struck early with 45 seconds left in the first quarter, when Raheem Bullock carried the ball 73 yards for a touchdown. The extra point attempt was good, and Red Level took a 7-0 lead after the first quarter.
Red Level’s second touchdown came from a 7-yard pass from Preston Ryce to James Feagin with 5:46 left in the second quarter. The Tigers took a 13-0 lead after the extra point attempt was no good.
After a three-and-out, Bullock ran the ball 65 yards on a punt return for a touchdown, and the extra point attempt was good.
The Tigers took a 20-0 lead at the 4:25 mark of the second quarter.
New Brockton managed to squeeze one touchdown in just before halftime on a five-yard run with two minutes remaining.
In the second half, New Brockton started with the ball, and scored on its first offensive series on an 18-play, 75-yard drive, which resulted in a six-yard touchdown run with 3:42 remaining in the third quarter.
The two-point conversion attempt was no good, and Red Level took the victory after going back and forth with New Brockton the rest of the game.
Red Level rushed 138 yards on 32 carries and scored one touchdown. The Tigers were 2-of-3 for nine yards on the night.
Bullock rushed 112 yards on 17 carries and scored one touchdown.
On defense, Red Level’s Kevin James and Cornelieus Calloway had 12 tackles each. James accounted for six solo tackles, and Calloway had seven.
The Tigers (1-1, 1-0 in Class 2A, Region 2) will hit the road next Friday to play region-opponent Goshen.
Before kick off, the Red Level 1057 state championship team was honored at a ceremony, where all team members still living were present.
