Opp coach Jack Whigham said Tuesday he knows Daleville will be a “quality opponent” this Friday night in his team’s first region contest of the season.
“They’re a quality opponent,” Whigham said. “They’re really big on the defensive and offensive front.”
In addition, Whigham said Daleville has a good runner in senior Chris Stone, who is 6-foot-3, and 235 pounds.
“They throw the ball real effectively,” he said. “They have a lot of team speed. It’s going to be another hard game.”
Last week, the Bobcats (0-1) didn’t fair too well against Elba’s passing game, where the Tigers threw for two touchdowns and beat Opp 19-6.
“It should be a close game, I hope,” Whigham said about Friday night. “I hope we can do enough things to play in a tremendous battle. It will be a four-quarter game.
“Daleville’s a whole different team,” he said. “They have a different defense and offense (than Elba).”
Kickoff in Opp is at 7 p.m.
