Furgeson wins Opp re-election

District 2 incumbent Jennifer Furgeson was re-elected to the Opp City Board of Education Tuesday, defeating her opponent, T.D. Morgan, 60-46.
Opp City Clerk Connie Smith said there were 106 total votes cast, including, four absentee.
Furgeson said she is looking forward to serving.
“I would like to see us continue to provide the best for our kids,” she said. “That’s what we are here for. In the tough financial situation, we have to be creative. I look forward to working through the challenges ahead of us.”
Seats in District 1 and District 4 were also up for vote, but only one candidate for each position qualified.
The Opp City Council has already certified Robert Young as the winner in District 1 and William Hines as the winner in District 4.
