Florala athletic director Chris Buckler confirmed Tuesday the high school still has a baseball program.
Rumors surfaced earlier this week that FHS’s baseball program would be cut.
Buckler said right now, the school is looking to hire a new coach, and the program was still a part of the school.
“At the present moment, we do not have a coach,” he said. “We’re still interviewing people and are trying to get a head coach solidified.
“We will have a baseball program one way or another,” he said. “It’s just right now, we’re trying to figure out who is going to be the leader of that program.”
Last season, the Wildcats advanced to the first round of the playoffs, where they lost to Brantley in two games under former coach Stan Gooden.
Florala finished the season 11-21.
