The annual city of Opp Fourth of July celebration will be held Sat., July 3, at Frank Jackson State Park.
Opp Mayor H.D. Edgar said the staff at Frank Jackson State Park has agreed to allow event-goers into the park for free after noon.
“Around 4 p.m., we will have free hot dogs, drinks and watermelon,” he said. “They will available until they are all gone or until the fireworks show begins at dark thirty.”
Edgar said the fireworks will be visible from three points in the park – the handicapped portion off of Opine Road, the point off the island and the boat ramp.
There will also be music and karaoke prior to the fireworks display, Edgar said.
“This is a great time of fellowship for the whole county for free,” he said. “We use the proceeds from the Rattlesnake Rodeo to fund this project.”
