Opp BOE elections to be Aug. 24

The Opp City Council announced Monday night that City Board of Education elections would be held in August.
The seats in District 1, District 2 and District 4 will be on the ballot. Dean Morris currently holds the seat in District 1; Jennifer Ferguson in District 2 and Gloria Campbell in District 4.
In order to participate in the Aug. 24 election, a qualified voter must have resided in the corporate limits of Opp for 30 days prior to the election and live within one of the three districts on the ballot.
Qualification for the three seats will begin July 6 and close July 20.
Any qualified elector must have lived in the district for at least 90 days on Aug. 24 to qualify to run for office by filing the appropriate forms and paying the fees associated.
The polls will be open for District 1 and 2 at the Opp Senior Activity Center located at 500 Brantley Street, and for District 4 at Opp Head Start Center, located at 508 Hardin Street.
Polls will be open 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.
