MONTGOMERY (AP) — Authorities say they arrested a Montomery news reporter Thursday after she allegedly ran over a police officer’s foot and then fled after being told she was under arrest.
WSFA’s Eileen Jones is charged with assault third degree, a misdemeanor, and escape third degree, a felony.
Police spokesman Capt. Keith Barnett says Jones was driving to the scene of a tanker truck accident at 6 p.m. Thursday when an officer instructed her to stop.
Barnett says the officer alleges Jones continued driving and ran over his foot before he told her she was under arrest and put a handcuff on one of her wrists.
Police say she drove away with the cuff still on. The officer suffered a sprain.
WSFA general manager Ken Selvaggi says Jones will continue to report.
