Look no further than the ceramics class at the Adult Activity Center each Wednesday morning from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m.

Program activities coordinator Dianne Jones said she recently purchased about 2,000 new pieces of ceramics from which class participants may choose.

The pieces range from cups, saucers, plates and canisters to large swans and outdoor figurines.

“We’ve got a little bit of everything,” she said.

Center staff members were busy Tuesday cleaning the new pieces and putting them in the kiln to get them ready for today¹s class.

“We want more people to take advantage of what we have to offer,” Jones said. “Our normal class usually varies, but we have about 20 students.”

The class is free to attend, but students must purchase the ceramic piece.

“All they have to do is come pick out the piece they want to paint or

glaze,” Jones said. “They pay for the ceramic piece and brushes. We have all

the paints they need.”

The average cost per piece is about $10, while smaller pieces can be a little as $1 and the larger one can range from $25-$30, Jones said.

Jones said these ceramics make great gifts.

Jones said the students who usually attend are having a fantastic time.

“Some of them want it two days a week rather than just one or a longer time period,” Jones said.

The center is located in the old Church Street School building. For more information, call 222-6891.
