MONTGOMERY (AP) — Alabama conservation officials have closed some state waters to fishing on the coast due to the spreading oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico.

The conservation department announced Wednesday that Gulf waters were closed to commercial and recreational fishing from the east end of Dauphin Island to the Mississippi state line.

The waters include Pelican Bay. The conservation department said updates to fishing closures in state waters will be posted to www.outdooralabama.com as needed.
