Rays, Cubs (County) win

Two 9-to-10-year-old Cal Ripken baseball teams came out with wins Friday night at Johnson Park.
The Rays beat the Padres, forcing the 10-run mercy rule, 12-2; and the Cubs defeated the Reds in a county match up 7-5.
Rays 12, Padres 2
The Rays shot out to an early 4-0 lead, scoring one run in the first inning, and three runs in the second.
The Padres scored one run in the third inning, and one run in the fourth inning in the loss.
Meanwhile, the Rays added three runs in the third inning to take a 7-1 lead, and then scored one run in the fourth and four runs in the fifth to take the win.
A. Taylor, D. Reeves, E. Bradey and N. Greathouse scored two runs each; and M. Kelley, McCall, Warthern and D. Boggan scored one run each for the Rays.
For the Padres, C. Mancill and B. Hall scored one run each.
Cubs (County) 7, Reds (County) 5
The Cubs scored one run in the first inning, two runs in the second inning, one run in the third inning, and one run in the fourth inning and two runs in the fifth inning Friday night in the win.
J.P. Thomasson scored one run; Ethan Wilson scored two runs; A. Smith scored one run; C. Morgan scored one run; K. Odom scored one run; and T. Cheshire scored one run for the Cubs.
For the Reds, A. George scored two runs; T. Barber scored one run; and D. Ainsworth scored one run.
