Nine Florala High School field and track team members will advance to compete in the Class 1A state tournament at Birmingham-Southern College after finishing in the top five of their respective category in the sectional meet at the University of Alabama on Friday.

Florala’s Paige Irwin, Olivia Hobbs, Hilary Thames and Angela Radford finished first in the girls 4x100m relay; Jonathan Burleson and John Bess finished first and third in the boys javelin, respectively; Irwin finished first in the girls 800m run; Angela Williams finished third in girls discus; Radford finished third in the girls 100m dash; and Thames finished fifth in the girls 200m dash.

In the girls 4x400m relay, Hailey Maxey, Irwin, Radford and Justina Clissold finished fourth.
