Forty high school representatives attended the Alabama High School Athletic Association’s annual District 2 meeting in Enterprise Wednesday night.
AHSAA board members preside over the annual district meeting, where coaches from the Wiregrass gathered to be updated on the latest rules and policies regarding their respective sport.
District 2 is one of eight in the state, and is made up of 44 high schools in 10 counties across the Wiregrass.
The counties are Covington, Geneva, Houston, Coffee, Dale, Henry, Barbour, Butler, Crenshaw and Pike.
AHSAA executive director Steve Savarese, along with board members, commented on rules and procedures regarding concussions, All-Star week, and updating the athletic association, to name a few.
Wednesday night also represented the end of former Pleasant Home principal Jim Garner’s 13-year stint as a District 2 board member.
“We appreciate all that he has done for District 2 and the state of Alabama in athletics,” Savarese said about Garner. “I saw him fight for your district over and over again.”
Straughn head football coach Trent Taylor was selected to replace Garner as the newest board member for District 2.
Members on the district board are selected for a four-year term.
