An Evergreen man is dead after a one-vehicle accident in River Falls Friday.
Daniel Eugene Bass, 55, was driving a 1984 Nissan pickup truck on U.S. Hwy. 84, about five miles west of River Falls, when the accident occurred.
Trooper Kevin Cook, a public information officer for the Alabama State Troopers, said Bass ran off the right shoulder and overcorrected, which caused the truck to flip. Bass was partially ejected from the vehicle.
“Sometime around 6 p.m., Mr. Bass was traveling westbound on (U.S.) 84 when the accident happened,” Cook said. “He was not wearing his seatbelt, so when the vehicle overturned, he was ejected out the passenger-side window.”
Cook said reports indicate when Bass did not return home that evening, family members launched a search party Saturday morning.
“The vehicle was not readily observable from the roadway, but the family did spot it,” he said.
Bass was pronounced dead at the scene and circumstances surrounding the accident remain under investigation, Cook said.
