Straughn’s Kyle Pickrel recovered two fumbles to help his team shut out Choctaw County 21-0 Friday night.
Late in the second quarter, Straughn’s Josh Dewrell passed to Pickrel for a 15-yard touchdown at the end of the first half.
At the start of the second half, the Tigers recovered their first fumble of the night on the 35-yard line.
Then, Dewrell ran the ball in for a touchdown and then handed the ball to James Byrd for the two-point conversion to give Straughn a 14-0 lead.
The second fumble came with 7:32 left in the third quarter, which then set up a scoring drive for Byrd again. Byrd ran the ball in five yards for the touchdown and Dewrell kicked the extra point attempt.
“It was a better game, but we still have a ways to go,” Straughn coach Trent Taylor said.
