GULF SHORES — Pleasant Home scored seven runs in the first inning on its way to a 19-0 win over Georgiana at the Class 1A south regional tournament at the Gulf Shores Sports Complex Friday.

In the second inning, the Lady Eagles (28-8) added an additional 11 runs to take an 18-0 lead.

Pleasant Home’s Erin Byrd scored on a bunt single from Kayla Woods in the first to start the scoring drive.

Then, Brittany Ward hit a two-run double to score Kati Reeves and Woods.

Gina Davis hit a one-run triple to increase the score to 4-0.

Megan Cook had a one-run triple to score Davis and then Kaitlin Brookshire added a two-run double to the score.

Pleasant Home coach Jimmy Reeves said the team did not “slack up” at all because of the score.

“I thought they handled the game like champions,” Reeves said. “They went out there and got out early like they were supposed to and a lot of times when you have a situation like that you slack up and start to get sloppy, and I didn’t see that.”

Woods started the scoring for the Lady Eagles in the second inning on a passed ball, followed by an RBI single from Cook to score Ward.

Davis, Cook and courtesy runner Raven Woods then scored on passed balls to make the score 12-0.

Byrd added an RBI double to score Brookshire, Raven Woods hit an RBI single to score Kathryn Dozier and then Brentin Fuller hit a two-run double to score Byrd and Woods to take Pleasant Home’s lead to 16-0.

Davis and Robyn Weaver knocked RBI triples to score Fuller and Davis to end the inning.

Pleasant Home’s last run came in the fourth inning on an RBI single from Shanda Martin to score Emily Byrd.

Pleasant Home will play Ariton today at 8 a.m. at the Gulf Shores Sports Complex.
