A utility pole snapped into two pieces and collapsed on a Railroad Street house Thursday afternoon, but nobody was hurt in the minor accident.

A semi truck appeared to have gotten caught under some utility wires, dislodging one pole and breaking it into two pieces, and causing another pole to become tilted.

Lynn Foreman, the owner of the house, was inside when the accident occurred at approximately 3:30 p.m.

“Either the truck was too tall or the wire was too low, but I could see it getting caught from my window,” Foreman said. “I was on the phone and suddenly there was this loud noise and the power went out.”

Foreman said Hurricane Opal had previously knocked down the same utility pole.
