The UMS-Wright and Opp girls tennis teams will advance to the Class 4A state tournament in Montgomery after defeating Andalusia, W.S. Neal and Jackson at sectionals Tuesday at the Lurleen B. Wallace Community College tennis courts.

No. 1 singles bracket — Opp’s Ashley Williams def. Andalusia’s Charlotte Patterson 3-6, 6-2, 6-2; and UMS-Wright’s Courtney Johns def. Opp’s Ashley Williams 6-3, 6-0 in the championship match.

No. 2 singles bracket — Opp’s Mallory Mims def. Andalusia’s Tally Morrow 6-3, 6-0; and UMS-Wright’s Caroline Harris Hinds def. Opp’s Mallory Mims 6-2, 6-2 in the championship match.

No. 3 singles bracket — Opp’s Rissa Wamsley def. Andalusia’s Christina Christensen 3-7, 6-4, 6-2; and UMS-Wright’s Darby Radcliff def. Opp’s Rissa Wamsley 6-0, 6-2 in the championship match.

No. 4 singles bracket — Andalusia’s Aubrey Boyington def. Opp’s Jessica Register 6-2, 6-4; and UMS-Wright’s Madeleine Maury Downing def. Andalusia’s Aubrey Boyington 6-0, 6-2 in the championship match.

No. 5 singles bracket — Opp’s Korrie Lynn James def. Andalusia’s Melissa Riley 6-3, 6-4; and UMS-Wright’s Sarah Catherine King def. Opp’s Korrie Lynn James 6-1, 6-0 in the championship match.

No. 6 singles bracket — Andalusia’s Mary Beth Arrington def. Opp’s Anna Hall 6-2, 6-2; and UMS-Wright’s Hastings Johnson def. Andalusia’s Mary Beth Arrington 6-0, 6-0 in the championship match.

No. 1 doubles bracket — Opp’s Ashley Williams and Mallory Mims def. Andalusia’s Charlotte Patterson and Christina Christensen 6-1, 3-6, 6-2. The championship match was not played due to inclement weather.

No. 2 doubles bracket — Andalusia’s Aubrey Boyington and Tally Morrow def. Opp’s Rissa Wamsley and Anna Hall. Andalusia forfeited the championship match due to inclement weather.

No. 3 doubles bracket — Opp’s Jessica Register and Korrie Lynn James def. Andalusia’s Melissa Riley and Mary Beth Arrington 6-1, 6-2. UMS-Wright was declared the winner of the bracket.

Opp and UMS-Wright will play in the Class 4A state tennis tournament at the Lagoon Park Tennis Center in Montgomery April 27-28.
