The Red Level Lady Tigers defeated Florala Tuesday afternoon, 11-10, in a back-and-forth game.

Red Level coach Heather Walden said she was glad her girls did not give up.

“I am very proud of the girls for never giving up even though they were down going into the bottom of the seventh inning,” Walden said. “Playing 100 percent until the last play of the game is something we coaches preach to our girls on a daily basis. We have two days before our next game and we plan on working on our hitting.”

Florala jumped out to an early 1-0 lead in the second inning.

Red Level’s Morgan Carpenter hit a double and Starla Jones followed with a walk, putting runners in scoring position.

Hali Grissett hit a two-run triple, scoring Carpenter and Jones.

Amber Raines soon got on base and scored later to make the score 3-2.

Florala scored six more runs in the fifth and sixth innings, taking over the lead at 10-7.

The Lady Tigers answered back in the bottom of the seventh inning, scoring four runs with two outs on hits from Courtney Douglas, Carpenter, Jones, Grissett, Ashley Wright and Whitney Wright.

The winning pitcher for Red Level was Courtney Douglas, who had two strikeouts and allowed three walks.

The Red Level junior varsity team beat Florala in earlier action, 5-4.

The Lady Tigers will travel to play Brantley Friday. Junior varsity starts at 4 p.m.
