Ferrolyn Patten

Ferrolyn R. Patten, of North Berwick, Maine, died peacefully at her home, after a long and courageous battle with cancer, on Feb. 28, 2009.
Mrs. Patten was born on Aug. 13, 1940, in Anda-lusia. She was the daughter of the late Chester P and Allie Bell (Bulger) Raley.
She was a military wife to be proud of. She enjoyed traveling the world, shopping and raising a beautiful family. She was a wonderful seamstress and cook who passed on her “down home” cooking skills to her daughters and grandchildren so that they may enjoy her talents for generations to come.
She was preceded in death by her parents and seven siblings, Bessie Maddox, James P. Raley, Helen Barbaree, Virginia Cheshire, Jessie Matthews, Pauline Bowman and Bobby Raley.
She is survived by her husband Keith “Togie” Patten of North Berwick; two daughters, Kay Patten Blyth and her husband, Tom, of Suffolk, Va., Donna Patten Williams and her husband, Kevin, of Leland, N.C.; four grandchildren, Samantha Allie Williams, Victoria Blyth, T.J. Blyth and James “Alex” Williams. Also surviving is a brother, Kenneth Raley, and two special sisters-in-law, Carolyn and Marilyn Patten, and very speical nieces, Martha Taylor, Sandra Williams, Joann Willson, Judy Milbrooks and Patsy Harrell, and very special friends Diane and Jim Strickland, Elaine and Skip Lewis, and Donnie and Anita Ruger.
A 2 p.m. memorial service will be held Mon., March 9, at the Red Oak Baptist Church, with burial to follow in the church cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the Patten family suggests memorials be made in Ferrolyn’s name to the American Cancer Society, 1 Bowdoin Mill Island, Suite 300,Topsham, ME 04086.
Services for the Patten family have been under the care of the J.S. Pelkey Funeral Home of Kittery, Maine.
