Saints suffer 2nd loss of season

It was not a good day for the Lurleen B. Wallace Community College Saints baseball team Wednesday as they fell to Enterprise-Ozark Community College in the ninth inning, 4-3.
Wednesday’s game came after the Saints suffered their first loss of the season Sunday to Pensacola, 4-3.
EOCC 4, LBWCC 3
LBW scored two runs on a home run by Daniel Shear and then put their lead to three runs when T.J. Parks was hit by a pitch, advancing the loaded bases in the fourth inning.
EOCC was down 3-1 in the ninth inning when the team hit a three-run homerun to give the Saints their second consecutive loss of the season.
The Saints will travel today to take on the Central Alabama Trojans in a doubleheader at noon.
Parks was 1-for-2 with one RBI and one double; Chris Fulford was 2-for-4 with one run; and Shear was 2-for-4 with two runs, two RBIs and one home run.
The losing pitcher was Josh Dozier. Dozier pitched 0.1 innings, gave up two hits, three earned runs and allowed one walk.
Pensacola 4, LBWCC 3
In the game Sunday, Pensacola went up 3-0 in the seventh inning on a three-run home run. The Saints came back in the bottom half of the inning by scoring two of their own runs on an RBI double from Taylor Culbreth.
On a wild pitch in the eighth inning, LBW managed to tie the game up, but Pensacola scored the winning run in the top of the ninth inning with bases loaded and two outs on a single to left field.
Culbreth was 2-for-4 with two RBIs and one double; T.J. Parks was 1-for-4 with one run and one double; and Cory Reed was 1-for-4 with one double.
The losing pitcher was Josh Dozier. Dozier pitched 1.2 innings, gave up four hits, one earned run, three walks and had two strikeouts.
