The missing Goshen teen, whose last known destination was Andalusia, was found Monday in a Church Street apartment where authorities believe she was staying with her 17-year-old boyfriend.
On Saturday, The Star-News reported Katie Kimbrell, 15, had been missing from her Goshen home since last Thursday after arguing with her parents about a boy she was seeing. She had posted her plans to meet the young man — who currently resides in Andalusia —on her MySpace page and had asked a girlfriend to notify the young man of the planned rendezvous.
The boyfriend had denied any knowledge of Kimbrell’s whereabouts.
Monday, Andalusia Police Chief Wilbur Williams said Kimbrell was found after authorities from the Pike County Sheriff’s Office picked up her 17-year-old boyfriend on a probation violation in Andalusia.
“This individual was a boyfriend of the missing girl and apparently, he had hoodwinked us all,” Williams said. “He had been affording her a place to stay the whole time.”
Williams said after the boy was taken into custody, authorities were able to determine Kimbrell’s location.
“Right now, we’re awaiting authorities from Pike County to come pick her up and return to her family,” he said. “She’s safe and appeared to be here by her own free will.”
