A 16-year-old Andalusia boy was jailed Thursday for the alleged rape and kidnapping of a 19-year-old female.

Olan Michael McGee Jr. is being charged as an adult with one count each of first-degree attempted rape, first-degree sexual abuse and first-degree kidnapping, a Covington County Sheriff’s Office spokesman said.

“A report was received by this office on Oct. 16, and due to the nature of the crimes, McGee is charged as an adult,” the spokesman said. “The reason being is that anytime anything is considered a violent crime, including sex crimes, a juvenile is charged as an adult.

“Without going into specific and explicit detail, when one looks at the totality of this case and the egregiousness of the crimes committed, there was no way he couldn’t be charged as an adult,” he said.

Reports indicate the incident was reported shortly after its occurrence in the Ferrell Road area of Red Level.

“The victim in this case is a 19-year-old female who is not termed a ‘friend,’” the spokesman said. “She was an acquaintance, a friend of a friend.”

McGee is currently being held in the county jail under a $60,000 bond.
