#8212;McKenzie – Brantley marquee matchup
Published 12:00 am Tuesday, June 3, 2008
Last week, three of the four Butler County team traveled for their games.
This week won—€™t be any different, because Fort Dale is again the only team at home.
McKenzie at Brantley
This is one of the biggest games in south Alabama this week.
Both teams are having a very good season so far.
McKenzie got their first real test of the year against Goshen last week, and emerged with a victory.
Brantley was also tested, but the Bulldogs couldn—€™t overcome Highland Home.
Despite Brantley—€™s youth, they are still one of the best teams in 1A.
McKenzie has had to fight through a few injuries, but I think they proved they can overcome adversity against Goshen.
This game will make a big statement about the rest of McKenzie—€™s season and playoff hopes.
McKenzie 35, Brantley 32
Glenwood at Fort Dale
This is another big game for a local team.
The Eagles just barely lost the last time a top-10 team came to town, but I think they—€™ll be ready for the challenge this time.
The defense has been strong for the Eagles all year, and they should be ready for a tough running game.
The bounces will go Fort Dale—€™s way this week, and they will win this game.
Fort Dale 31, Glenwood 24
Georgiana at Red Level
The Panthers have been an on-again, off-again team so far this season, but last week—€™s loss to A.L. Johnson was apparently a tough pill to swallow.
However, the Red Level Tigers are struggling this year, and although the game is in Red Level, I think this might be just what the doctor ordered to put the Panthers back on track.
Georgiana 30, Red Level 8
Greenville at Valley
This is game will help sort out the pecking order in the region.
Greenville is coming off a strong showing against Monroe County, and I think the Tigers will have another against the Rams.
They—€™ve faced long trips before, and I don—€™t think this one will bother them.
Greenville 28, Valley 24
Current high school record: 15-4
